zeuS: king of the gods
Zeus, otherwise known by his Roman names, Jupiter or Jove, is the God of the sky. His symbols are the thunderbolt, eagle and the oak tree. He overthrew his father Cronus, and then drew lots with his brothers Poseidon and Hades, in order to decide who would succeed their father on the throne. Zeus won the draw and became the supreme ruler of the gods, as well as lord of the sky and rain. He is married to Hera, the Queen of the gods, but is infamous for having many affairs. Some of his most famous resulted in demigods such as Hercules and Perseus, heroes in Greek mythology.
