hades: God of the underworld
Hades, otherwise known by his Roman name, Pluto, is the Greek god of the underworld. His symbols are the pomegranate, and the Helmet, (or cap) of invisibility. Hades was the brother of Zeus and Poseiden. After the overthrow of their father, Cronus, he drew lots with them to share the universe. He drew poorly, which resulted in becoming lord of the underworld and ruler of the dead. He was not to be confused with another God, considered to be death itself, as this was a different god, called Thanatos. He fathered some demigods, such as Macaria.
